FOCUS 1000 in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation under the Directorate of Policy Planning and Information (DPPI) have engaged FOCUS 10000 District Supervisors and Field Monitors on the processes involved in uploading health information data into the Health Management Information System (HMIS).
The data upload into the system is produced and used at four levels: community, health facility, district and national level.
Health data is captured from clients/patients in 1270 PHUs and 22 government hospitals.
By the 25th of each month, HMIS specialist at DPPI cleans the data and ensures completeness.
Quarterly/ annually, reports from programmes or partners are produced upon request. This process helps the Ministry to publish a comprehensive health bulletin.
FOCUS 1000 has recruited four data analysts, five training coordinators and 28 field monitors under the DFID Saving Lives Project to undertake this activity.
Our staff have been working closely with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation at National and District Health Management Teams at District level.
This exercise of FOCUS 1000 staff first hand experience in using the HMIS system took place at the Charms Beach Hotel Aberdeen Freetown on Monday 11th June, 2018.
