Mr Jalloh and President

On Friday 18th December 2015, His Excellency President Ernest Bai Koroma awarded FOCUS 1000 a Bronze Medal Award, in recognition of the organization’s outstanding support to the Ebola Response during the outbreak in Sierra Leone.

Receiving the award at a special ceremony at State House,  Alhaji Mohammad Bailor Jalloh – Chief Executive Officer, stated: ‘We are grateful to God Almighty who gave us the wisdom and direction to contribute to the eradication of the Ebola Virus Disease in our country. Working together with partners of SMAC supported by DFID, we were able to bring on board religious leaders, traditional healers and market women to mobilize communities across the country for social change. Without these networks, this award would not have been possible’.

‘Our work over this period was also driven by research which helped to inform policy decisions and shape communication messaging.  With the support of CDC, UNICEF, CRS and other partners, we conducted a total of four Knowledge, Attitude and Practices (KAP) studies, which greatly contributed in the engagement of various community groups in the fight against the Ebola virus’.
‘I thank all our partners from the bottom of my heart for their wonderful work and great dedication. We have lost families, friends, loved ones, in this fight against Ebola, but they are not forgotten. FOCUS 1000 will always remember them in our prayers and may God Almighty console all hearts that grieve and mourn their loss’.
