In a bid to effectively and efficiency communicate through various audiences, three FOCUS 1000 staff attached to the Communications Unit have acquired new skills on Media and Communication Strategy conducted by Nomoli Media.

Nomoli Media is a Sierra Leonean-owned media company focusing on telling the Sierra Leonean and African story beyond war, disease and poverty. The organistion specializes in Communications for Development and Social Change providing communications advice, media training and also help produce content to enhance development and social change for their clients.


The two days training conducted by Nomoli Media was held at the Action Aid Office in Freetown from 6thto 7thSeptember 2018.

The sessions brought together over 20 communications staff from Government and Non-governmental organization.

According to Nomoli Media, the training was designed to equip programme and communications staff in NGO/voluntary sector with the tools and skills to more effectively communicate with donors, partners and the public.    

During the training, participants were taught on the: Overview of Communications Concepts. Communication and media tools.Writing effectively for the web.Writing success stories, press release, Branding and brand management. Social media for non-profit originations. Basic photography and editing and Publication strategy. 

The training has equipped participants with new tools and skills to effectively communicate with donors, partners and the public.

As an accolade, FOCUS 1000 was presented as the Best Local NGO with constituent brand and further presented on the importance of brand and how it can be used.

The sessions were extremely interactive, giving participants the urge to implement within their various organisations. 

It is expected that sessions of such nature will be conducted to boost the communication within institutions and also extended to organisations’ head and projects management personnel.
